BOSTON -- One more victory and the St. Louis Blues could claim the Stanley Cup championship. And, the best part, it could be on home ice.
The Blues picked up Game 5 at TD Garden Thursday by beating the Boston Bruins, 2-1. They now lead 3-2 with the series headed back to St. Louis and will face the Bruins Sunday at the Enterprise Center.
The Blues are playing with fervor and setting records doing it. Jordan Binnington made 38 saves and that gives him the most road wins by a rookie goalie, which is nine. He also tied the record for most wins by a rookie goalie in a single postseason and that is 15.
Ryan O'Reilly came through with a goal that gave the Blues a 1-0 lead in the second period. O'Reilly had an assist on a goal by David Perron with 3:36.
Boston pulled within 2-1 with 6:28 remaining when Jake DeBrusk scored but that as it for the Bruins.
