Capitals, Carlson Agree to Contract

The Washington Capitals and John Carlson have agreed to a new eight-year contract worth $8 million per year. Carlson set career highs in goals and assists this season and has spent his entire career in Washington.

Avalanche Acquire Grubauer, Orpik

The Colorado Avalanche have acquired goaltender Philipp Grubauer and defenseman Brooks Orpik from the Washington Capitals. The Avalanche have signed Grubauer to a three-year contract worth $10 million, but placed Orpik on buyout waivers.
