COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Avery Braunecker continues to make her mark at the college level in swimming.

A sophomore at the University of Louisville, Braunecker, a graduate of Effingham High School, competed Thursday at the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio.

Braunecker was the third leg of the 200 free relay team with Lainey Visscher, Mallory Comerford and Casey Fanz. The foursome finished fifth with a time of 1:27.19.  That finish was the best for a 200 free relay team in the University of Louisville's history.

Braunecker was a three-time IHSA state champion and four-time runner-up during her high school career. She is majoring in exercise science at Louisville.

In Friday action, Braunecker competed in the 100 breaststroke and the 50 freestyle. In Saturday competition, she'll be competing in the 100 freestyle.
