Individual Wrestling Regionals Saturday

Wrestling individual regionals will begin Saturday across the state.

Effingham will be competing in the Class 2A Mattoon Regional along with Carbondale, Centralia, Charleston, Herrin, Marion, Mattoon, Mount Vernon, Mount Zion and Olney.

Weigh-ins are scheduled for 7:30 a.m. with the coaches meeting immediately following. Doors open at 8 a.m. The first session is at 9 a.m. with the second session scheduled for 1 p.m.

Only participants involved in the current event will be allowed on the gym floor. No food, drink or coolers are to be brought into the gym area. Food and driniks will be available at the concession stand. All food and drinks should be kept in the cafeteria.

Admission is $5 per session or $8 per person for all all day pass. Prices are set by the IHSA.

Cumberland High School wrestlers will be competing in the Class 1A Fairfield Regional along with Breese Mater Dei, Carlyle, Carmi-White County, Fairfield, Lawrenceville, Mount Carmel, Robinson and Vandalia. The meet begins at 9 a.m.
