The St. Anthony boys and girls bowling teams competed in a match Thursday against Centralia at the K-Bowl in Effingham.  The boys team claimed its first victory while the girls team fell a little short.

“This was our first home match this year and we did pretty well,” said Coach Phil Zaccari. "The men stepped up and battled winning the first game but fell behind after the second only to come on strong in the third to claim the match. We had contributions from everyone. Liam Andrews was consistent topping out at 202. James Ritz started a little slow but finished strong with four strikes in a row to shoot 225 in the third game to seal the victory. It was very exciting.

“Our womens team struggled a little bit. I think we were a little nervous to start and just could not get anything going. We had trouble picking up spares and Centralia has some solid players. Generally we gained more experience and will continue working to get better,” concluded Zaccari.
