Heartland Hurricanes Take Second In Illini District Championship

The Heartland Hurricanes finished second at the Illini District Championship.

The Heartland Hurricanes competed the Illini District Championship meet March 4-5 in Springfield. The Hurricanes took second place overall at the district meet.

Saturday was preliminary with the top eight moving on to Sunday. Results below are for the top eight places Sunday.

The Heartland Hurricanes will be competing next at the Illinois State Championship meet March 18-19 in St John, Indiana.

The girls qualifying for state are:  Avery Aldrich, Paige Brown, Alex Ciorna, Amelia Collins, Olivia Copple, Kaylei Eubank, Juls Harden, Katrina Hoferer, Isabella Keller, Annika Koester, Nikki Lee, Maria Mayorga Ibarra, Elise Passalacqua, Carolyn Powell, Andrea Rudolphi, Gracie Slifer, Mollie Slifer, Laura Stream, Brooke Stuckemeyer, Allie Wilhelms, and Ava Zheng.

The boys qualifying for state are: Aidan Braunecker, Gavin Braunecker, Patrick Ciorna, Ian Copple, Marcus Geen, Jonathan Hoferer, Gabe Huebner, KJ Kellams, Gabe Oetting, Xantiago Ponce, Owen Powell, Tyler Sparks, Jack Wiarda, and Brady Wilson.

Gracie Slifer took first in the 25 Breaststroke.
