Hearts Claim Two Wrestling Wins

Effingham held a quadrangular wrestling meet Tuesday evening and picked up two victories.

The Hearts defeated Centralia 45-21. Michael Cross, Zach Keitel, Brody Beck and Brandon Marschewski won forfeit matches. Tyler Marschewski took a win with a pin in 2:42, Andrew Perry won with a pin in 1:50, Brett Hodges took a 6-1 decision at 170 pounds and Jarrett Jones claimed a win with a pin in 1:08.

In the second match, Effingham defeated Pinckneyville 48-16. Kendall Ballman, Hodges, Jones and Tanner Loy claimed forfeit wins.

Michael Cross won at 120 pounds with a pin in 4:35 while Brandon Marschewksi pinned his opponent at 152 pounds in 1:57. Zane Thilker won at 160 pounds with a pin in 4:25.

Highland then edged the Hearts 37-33 in the final match. Noah Mulheron won at 120 pounds while Keitel took 126 pounds with a pin in 3:31. B. Marschewski won at 145 pounds with a 6-1 decision. Andrew Perry pinned his opponent in 1:27. Thilker took down his opponent with a pin in 1:26. Jarrett Jones won at 182 pounds with a pin in 1:45.

In other matches, Pinckneyville beat Centralia 42-18, Highland won over Centralia 60-18 and Highland downed Pinckneyville 48-28.
