A Wayne Gretzky rookie card sold for a hockey card record of $465,000 on Thursday night in Atlantic City.

The bidder, who requested anonymity, paid more than four times the value of the same 1979 O-Pee-Chee Gretzky gem mint card. When the card sold in 2011 for $94,000, it was then the record.

Ken Goldin, president of Goldin Auctions, which sold the card with collectors in town for the National Sports Collectors Convention, said the sale showed the "strength and diversity of the card market."

Another star item in the auction: a game-used Michael Jordan jersey from the 1998 Eastern Conference semifinals that sold for $168,000, the second-highest price ever paid for a Jordan jersey. And Babe Ruth's last player contract -- a three-year deal with the Boston Braves worth $75,000 -- sold for $360,000.
