David Eskew and Ron Webb

Longtime doubles partners David Eskew and Ron Webb checked an item off their bucket list earlier this month, winning a state bowling championship.

The two competed on the final weekend of the 2016 Illinois State Bowling Tournament. Things came together for both men on their second day of competition.

Webb, rolling a Roto Grip Rogue Cell, shot games of 237, 234 and 279 for a 750 series, while Eskew, using a Roto Grip Hywire, scored 214, 222 and 286, for a 722 series. With handicap of 118, they finished with a decisive 1590 for their doubles total. At the end of the night, they were "unofficially" at the top of the leaderboard. A long couple of weeks later, the final standings were posted, and it's official, Eskew and Webb are the state doubles champions.

Both men scored well in their singles events, with Eskew placing 23rd, and both placing in the All Events, 20th and 40th, respectively.

Several other local bowlers placed in both the Handicap and Scratch divisions.
