EHS Girls Basketball, Wrestling Awards Presented

Winning varsity basketball awards were, left to right, Miranda Fox, Aly Armstrong, Shelby Nunamaker, Taylor Crowell, Marranda Steffen, Shayna Phillips, Shelby Myers and Carsyn Fearday.

Effingham High School athletes in the sports of girls basketball and wrestling were honored at a banquet at the Hearts Rock Cafe Saturday.

Carsyn Fearday claimed five awards in girls basketball. She was the Blocks Leader (8), Highest Free Throw Percentage (63.5%), Assist Leader (72), Most Valuable Player and Miss Basketball.

Shelby Nunamaker picked up three awards. She was a captain, shared the hustle award and was the blocks leader, along with Fearday, with eight.

Miranda Fox also claimed three awards. Fox was named Most Improved, won the Hustle award and was the steals leader with 44.

Marranda Steffen was a Captain and won the Best Defensive Player award.

Taylor Crowell was a team captain and captured The Charge award. Shelby Myers was the rebound leader with 159. Aly Armstrong was the leader in three-point field goals award with 48. Shayna Phillips won the Max Wolfe Sportsmanship award.

Earning letters were Jade Depoister, Carsyn Fearday, Skyler Schafer, Shayna Phillips, Natalie Carie, Aly Armstrong, Marranda Steffen, Miranda Fox, Sidney Webster, Shelby Nunamaker, Taylor Crowell, Bria Barr and Shelby Myers.

Junior varsity awards went to Skyler Schafer for Most Improved, Riya Shah for Hustle and Madison Buscher for Best Defensive Player.

Capturing freshman/sophomore awards were Jessie Herboth for Most Improved, Kiyah Kuhlman for Best Defense and Hannah Taylor for Hustle.

Winning wrestling awards at Effingham High School were, left to right, Brett Hodges, Tyler Marschewski, Braden Lawrence, Brandon Marschewski and Griffin Paige.

Taking Apollo Conference honors for wrestling were, left to right, Tristen Rhodes, Griffin Paige and Brandon Marschewski.

Wrestling awards were presented. Most Valuable Wrestler went to Griffin Paige who also claimed the Most Valubale Offensive Wrestler award.

Brandon Marschewski was named Most Valuable Defensive Wrestler. Braden Lawrence picked up the Most Improved Wrestler award. Tyler Marschewski won the Rookie award and Brett Hodges won the Heart award.

Earning wrestling letters were Brody Beck, Michael Cross, Evan Evans, Gage Franklin, Brett Hodges, Jarrett Jones, Zach Keitel, Delainie Kersey, Braden Lawrence, Brandon Marschewski, Tyler Marschewski, Ben Meinhart, Andy Nashed, Griffin Paige, Andrew Perry, Tristen Rhodes and Zane Thilker.

Winning junior varsity basketball awards were, left to right, Madison Buscher, Riya Shah and Skyler Schafer.

Winning freshman/sophomore basketball awards were, left to right, Jessie Herboth, Hannah Taylor and Kiyah Kuhlman.
