Area Swimmers Compete in Sectional

CHAMPAIGN -- Several area swimmers competed in sectional competition this past Saturday.

Effingham High School's Tyler Homann finished with a personal best time of 1:01.89 in the 100 yard breaststroke and took second place.

Then Homann captured third place in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:00.04.

Only first place finishes advance to the State Finals.

Teutopolis High School's Ian Copple finished 10th in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.52.

A former Effingham St. Anthony student, Luke Thompson, who is now a junior at Champaign Central, captured first place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 55.30. He also was a member of the 200 yard medley relay team that took first in 1:34.73. Thompson will advance to state in both events.

He also finished second in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:00.04.
