Recruiting Realities at EHS Feb. 22

The Effingham High School Athletic Department will be sponsoring an informational event Monday, February 22 to be held in the Effingham High School gymnasium at 7 p.m.

The speaker for this event will be Jack Renkens, a former college coach and an expert in college recruiting. This event is not only for EHS students and families but anyone in the area who would like to attend.

Renkens is a National Recruiting Expert who has been featured on numerous TV and radio shows across the country. He will be presenting to coaches, counselors, student-athletes and their families about Recruiting Realities and it will run approximately 50 mimutes. Renkens has been assisting parents and student athletes for more than 18 years, empowering their student-athletes by revealing the real process behind college recruiting.

For may high school players, it's the ultimate dream, to earn an athletic scholarship to play their favorite sport at the collegiate level. Renken knows that more of your kids can play in college if they understand their options. So how do you go about doing this? Renken will give the families the straight talk on actual scholarship offers, NCAA eligiblity center, recruiting letters, home recruiting visits, official paid visits, traveling clubs, summer showcases and more.

Myth 1 -- The time to gear up your recruiting effort is late in the junior year. Reality -- The best time to start is the freshman year.

Myth 2 -- Only the top athletes can expect to get opportunities. Reality -- There are great schools all over the country looking for good athletes, good students and good kids right now.
