EHS' Paige Takes First, Marschewskis Third, Advance to Sectional

Effingham High School senior Griffin Paige continued his highly successful year in wrestling by claiming the 182-pound championship at the 2A Regional at Carbondale Saturday.

Paige took a 13-4 win over Lucas Cluigh of Carbondale and then claimed a victory over Jonathan Braodway of Centralia 11-9 to take first place.

Brandon Marschewski finished third at 132 pounds. Marschewski opened with a loss then picked up three straight victories with a 15-0 win, an 8-1 victory and a 10-8 decision.

Tyler Marschewski also captured third. Marschewski won with a pin in 1:08 in the 145 pound division. He then lost before picking up a pin in :57 and a pin in 2:27 for third place.

Paige, Brandon Marschewski and Tyler Marschewski all advance to the 2A Sectional at Mahomet-Seymour next Saturday.
