Penguins Double Up Rangers For 3-1 Series Lead
(New York, NY) -- Evgeni Malkin tallied a goal and an assist as the Penguins doubled up the Rangers 4-2 at Madison Square Garden to take a commanding lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Brandon Sutter scored shorthanded in the second period, while Jussi Jokinen and Chris Kunitz both lit the lamp in the third for Pittsburgh, which heads back home with a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven set. The Pens host Game Five on Friday. Marc-Andre Fleury, coming off back-to-back shutouts, stopped 13 of the 15 shots he faced in the victory. Carl Hagelin and Mats Zuccarello both scored for the Blueshirts. Henrik Lundqvist allowed all four goals on 27 shots in defeat.
Blackhawks At Wild Friday
(St. Paul, MN) -- The Chicago Blackhawks are on the road Friday for Game Four of their Western Conference semifinals against the Minnesota Wild. The Blackhawks are up 2-1 in the best-of-seven series. The Wild took Game Three 4-0 on home-ice to avoid a devastating 3-0 hole. Game Five is back at the United Center on Sunday.
Blues Extend Hitchcock For Next Season
(St. Louis, MO) -- The Blues are extending the contract of head coach Ken Hitchcock for next season. Associate coach Brad Shaw and assistant coach Ray Bennett will also be back, while assistant Gary Agnew and goalie coach Corey Hirsch will not return. Hitchcock just finished his third season.
