Effingham Catholic Charities is teeing up for its 17th Annual Austin Luckett Memorial Golf Tournament Friday, May 13. The annual golf outing, held at the Cardinal Golf Course, is a fundraising event for the Effingham-based charity.
The tournament is open to four-member teams or individual participants may be paired with a team; handicaps will not be used. The cost is $75 per player and includes greens fees, cart, rental, food and beverages. Hamburgers, brats, munchies and on-course beverages will be available all day.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. The scramble begins with a shotgun start at noon. Morning golf will be available to accommodate an excess of 27 teams. Hole sponsors are $100/sponsor.
The top raffle prize will be $500 cash.
The tournament is named after Austin Luckett, who died in 1999 after fighting colon cancer for five years. The money raised is used to help those who come to Catholic Charities for assistance with basic needs.
For those who are unable to participate as golfers, they can help by being hole sponsors, raffle prize donors and volunteers and monetary donations are always welcome. Those interested may contact Catholic Charities office at 217-857-1458.
