St Paul Lutheran Church ELCA cordially invites the public to a free concert of Sacred Music by the St Hildegard von Bingen Scola on Sunday, January 3 at 4:00pm in the church located on US Hwy 40 west of Altamont.
The St Hildegard von Bingen Scola is a small coir of multitalented young ladies, ages 12 - 19, form Effingham County, who sing sacred music focusing particularly on Gregorian chant and acappella polyphonic compositions. The group, directed and founded by Barbara Konrad, is named after German Benedictine nun, St Hildegard von Bingen who is acclaimed for her writings on music and medicine.
The Schola follows Hildegard in regard to evangelization through music and has sung in various locations around Effingham County including: St Anthony Memorial Hospital Chapel, St Anthony Pauda Church, St Claire's in Altamont, St Paul Lutheran ELCA in Altamont, Immaculate Conception in Mattoon, The Glenwood and the Villas of Hollybrook residence homes, Witt's Smokehouse, Brooms Furniture and The Piano Gallery of Effingham. Current Schola members are: Libby Brandt, Allison Spraul, Abby Zaccari, McKenna Steinman, Carly Spraul, Makenna Grubb, and Olivia Spraul, Elizabeth Kabbes, Cameron Voyles, and Tierney Hammer. The concert on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 4:00pm at St Paul Lutheran will be both Schola favorites and the music of the Christmas season.
