The EIU Jazz Faculty will be heard in concert Sunday, November 8 at 7:30, in the Doudna Fine Arts Center Theatre. The group includes Sam Fagaly, tenor saxophone; Andrew Cheetham, trumpet; Jemmie Robertson, trombone; Paul Johnston, piano; Scott Hesse, guitar; Nick Tucker, bass; and Jamie V. Ryan, drums. Ticket prices are $10, general admission and $5 for students. Proceeds will go to the David Frank Tanner/Ronald Eugene Gholson Endowed Fund Celebrating the Goodness of Music. The program will feature a variety of music ranging from jazz standards to music by contemporary composers such as Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. In 2009, EIU Professor of Education Emeritus Ronald Gholson established the David Frank Tanner/Ronald Eugene Gholson Endowed Fund Celebrating the Goodness of Music, as a tribute to his friend David Tanner. Over the past six years, this fund has helped support equipment, travel, scholarships, and guest artists for the jazz studies program. With the continued support of Dr. Gholson and other generous donors, the fund has grown and will continue to benefit future generations of EIU jazz students. Contributions to this fund will be accepted Sunday and are greatly appreciated. To purchase tickets, call 217.581.3110 ,email doudnatix@eiu.edu, or visit www.eiu.edu/doudna. The Doudna Fine Arts Center is located one block west of Ninth Street at Garfield Avenue on the EIU campus. |
