The Construction Trades Education Curriculum class will be holding a steak dinner fundraiser for the support of Effingham County's Construction Trades class. The county-wide class provides high school students with hands-on learning of the cross-section of construction skills. Nineteen students are enrolled in the 9 month program that meets from 7:00 a. m. to 9:15 a. m. every school day. The curriculum involves OSHA safety training certification, class room curriculum, and "in-the-field" experience in most major building trades.
CTEC has received financial support from both area contractors and via Effingham City Council's TIF program. Area construction firms also provide curriculum oversight, "hands on" instruction, and field experiences.
The steak dinner fundraiser is being hosted by Legacy Harley Davidson on Thursday, October 8 from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm, featuring steak, baked potato, salad and a drink. (In addition, other beverages will be available for a free will donation.)
Tickets are $20/per person, and are available for purchase at the following locations:Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, Legacy Harley-Davidson, Merz Sheet Metal & IGA Plus.
Proceeds from the event will go toward the operating costs of the CTEC class.
