St Paul; Lutheran Church in Altamont proudly presents in concert the St Hildegard von Bingen Schola on Sunday, April 26 at 5pm. Join them for an hour of lovely music with refreshments immediately following in the Parish hall.
The St Hildegard von Bingen Schola is a small choir of 9 multitalented young ladies, ages 12 to 18, who sing quality choral music which fosters the talents of the individual within the ensemble. The group, directed and founded by Barbara Konrad, sings music of all genres but focuses especially on a cappella polyphonic compositions and Gregorian chant in praise of God. The members of the Schola are - Tierney Hammer, Cameron Voyles, Libby Brandt, Allison Spraul, Abby Zaccari. McKenna Steinman, Carly Spraul, Makenna Grubb, and Olivia Sparul.
The Schola is named after German Benedictine nun Hildegard of Bingen who is famous for her volumes of writings on music and medicine. The Hildegard Schola has sung in various locations around Effingham County. Their spring concert will include selections of sacred music which reflect the church's liturgical seasons of Lent, Easter, Pentecost, and Ordinary time.
Following the Choir's performance, Richard Tucker will accompany the congregation with singing. "Fire has flames and sings praise to God. Wind whistles a hymn to God as it fans the flames. And the human voice consists of words to sing paeans of praise. All creation is a single hymn in praise of God." HvB
