Effingham is a fun and unique destination for leisure travelers. The Effingham Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) invites you to participate in our #DestinationEffingham Photo Contest in celebration of National Travel & Tourism Week in May. It is the perfect way to get people involved in promoting our great city! #DestinationEffingham Photo Contest is open to anyone over the age of 14 and not considered a professional photographer. Each individual is allowed to submit up to five photographs, but will only be entered into the random drawing one time. Submissions will be accepted beginning April 6th through May 1st at midnight. You can send your photographs to our e-mail: visit-us@effinghamil.com. Please see complete rules on our website VisitEffinghamIL. com. We encourage residents to send in any color photographs that answer the following question: "What makes Effingham a travel destination to you?" Some examples of categories include nature and recreation, festivals and events, arts and culture, buildings and landscapes, seasons and downtown Effingham. We just ask that all photographs were taken in Effingham County within the past year. The winner will be randomly drawn on May 8, 2015 at noon, during National Travel & Tourism Week. The winner will receive 4 Action Splash Passes to Knights Action Park in Springfield, IL, along with a $100 VISA gift card. All photographs received will be eligible to be used in the Effingham CVB's visitor guide and social media platforms, with photo credit. This photo contest is an exciting way to kick-off National Travel & Tourism Week a month early. "We are excited to sponsor this new contest. It's designed to showcase Effingham at its best to entice interest and attract visitors to our area," said Jodi Thoele, Director of Tourism for the City of Effingham. National Travel & Tourism Week runs from May 2 - 10th and it's the perfect time to reflect on what travel means to you. "We want people to see the positive impact of tourism in our community. By participating in this contest, they will help us tell the story of what's great in our city to tourists," said Thoele.
