Jim "Rodey" Rodebaugh, 50, of Toledo, IL was laid to rest on Nov. 12 and his friends and family are planning a number of benefits to help raise the funds to pay for his funeral and headstone costs. A pool tournament, chili cook off and salsa contest will be held at the Greenup American Legion beginning at 12 p. m. on Saturday, January 17, with a larger benefit being planned for Saturday, February 21, also at the American Legion, featuring pool and bag tournaments, silent and live auctions, food, music and more. Participants may sign up for the pool tournament at 12 p. m. and the salsa and chili cook offs at 2 p. m. at the January 17 event. Prizes will be awarded and the chili and salsa will be made available after judging for a small donation. Registration is $10 for the pool tournament and $5 each for the chili and salsa competitions. Donations are currently being accepted at http://www.gofundme.com/gycd6w, participating First Neighbor Bank locations, and the Barkley Funeral Chapel of Greenup, IL. Additionally, raffle tickets, drink huggies, 50/50 tickets and shirts are also available at the Greenup and Toledo American Legions for a small donation. Huggies cost $2, T-shirts $15 for short sleeve and $20 for long sleeve. Hoodie cost $25. Add $2 for XXL and up, plus $3 for a pocket on long and short sleeve T-shirts. Raffle tickets are also available for $10 each for a chance to win a 3,500 watt generator, $5 each for $300 worth of meat from Nuxoll Food Center of Effingham, IL and $1 each or $5 for 6 for a 50/50 drawing. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated. Details about the February 21 benefit will be shared as information becomes available.
