The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is again commemorating Martin Luther King Day as our community service day. All not-for-profit groups have the opportunity to visit the museum at no charge. Groups must make a reservation by calling 217/558-8939. You may be asked to provide a copy of your tax exempt letter that states you are organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes.
Dr. King once said, "Not everybody can be famous but everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service." To honor that service, we are offering this one day opportunity and hosting health and service booths.
During 2015, the museum is celebrating our 10-year anniversary celebration. Undying Words: Lincoln 1858-1865 will be our newest exhibit. The exhibit will focus on Lincoln's best-known speeches while teaching visitors about Lincoln's transformation. This exhibit is a collaboration with the Chicago History Museum and will be an inspiring and reflective commemoration of Lincoln's death. Roughly ninety to one hundred original objects, including the Lincoln family carriage and the death bed will be on display.
