Registration for "Paws to Read," the free 2014 Summer Reading Program at Helen Matthes Library, begins Monday, May 19. Created to encourage reading as well as life-long learning, the "Paws to Read" program at Helen Matthes Library is open to everyone from birth through adults. Adults will have their own specially adapted Reading Program called "Pause To Read!" The library will host 100 events and opportunities, allowing everyone to participate in fun reading and learning activities this summer.
A library card is not needed to participate in this free program or any of the events at the library. A kickoff event for the six week reading program, will be held at the library on Saturday, May 31 from 10 a. m. to Noon. The event will feature a Balloon Animal Artist, Marshmallow Animals, Blubber Science, Milk Bone Construction, Build Your Own Effingham Pig as well as Giant Bubbles and Sidewalk Chalk. The first week of the Summer Reading Program begins Monday, June 2. Participants may register at any time throughout the reading program, starting Monday, May 19.
