The Vandalia Statehouse State Historic Site plans to celebrate the 205th birth of Illinois' favorite son, Abraham Lincoln, with food, dancing and a speech from the birthday boy himself. Put on your dancing shoes Saturday, February 8 for the Lincoln Victory Ball, a party to mark Lincoln's birthday and celebrate a union victory in the Civil War. Party-goers will enjoy live music, door prizes and refreshments of the 1860s like pies and cobblers. Musical guests for the party, held at the Vandalia Moose Lodge, include Salt Creek Band with Caller.
People attending the ball in period attire get free admission. For others, the price is $5. For more information, contact Connie Bolyard at 618-283-4206 or 618-267-2232.
