Beginning 21st of January the Helen Matthes Library is launching Color My World, the 2014 Adult Winter Reading Program. With the cold, winter months ahead, the goal of this program is to provide colorful, fun opportunities to engage people in reading and learning. “The library is the ideal place for the community to gather and to encourage people to try something new. We would like to introduce patrons to new activities and ideas through all the different resources available at the library, as well as the programming and events we offer,” said Catherine Bailey, Adult Programming Coordinator at Helen Matthes Library.
Participants can sign up for the program at the library beginning Tuesday, January 21 and are encouraged to undertake up to 5 tasks or activities which can be selected from a list in the participant’s reading log. A reward is earned for each task completed. Local businesses donating rewards for completing an activity or task include Burkland’s Flower Shop, The Union Jack Antique and Country Store, The Last Straw, and Starbucks.
Participants who complete 5 tasks successfully will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win an eReader.
No library card is needed to participate. To sign up, visit the library’s Information Desk and receive your reading log. The program runs January 21 – March 1. For more details, visit www.effinghamlibrary.org or call the library at 342-2464 x3.
