The Salvation Army of Effingham County has officially opened its annual call for volunteer bellringers.  The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign has stood as a beacon of hope and compassion for more than a century.

Volunteers are needed to ring the bell at the red kettles in locations throughout the community.  Businesses, churches, community organizations, school groups, individuals, and families who want to make a difference in Effingham County are all encouraged to ring the bell.

The money raised in Effingham County remains in the community and will be used to assist those in need in the community throughout 2025.  Services offered by the Salvation Army include assistance for food, clothing, utilities, medication, rent, and disaster relief as well as crisis-related needs and connection to a continuum of care.  The funds raised by volunteers at the red kettles go towards ensuring these services exist for Effingham County residents in need.

To register to ring the bell this season please reach out to Roger Friese, the Committee Chair of the Effingham County Salvation Army at 217-343-8215 or email us at mid.se@usc.salvationarmy.org.

Roger Friese of The Salvation Army of Effingham, said, “The Red Kettle Campaign is one of our busiest and most exciting times of the year.  Your time and dedication go towards ensuring no family misses out on the joys of Christmas and beyond.  There are many ways to support us during this time, and every donation truly makes a difference in the lives of others.  We appreciate everyone who steps up to give back to our community, change happens when you ring.”

Participating stores in the Effingham area include Wal-Mart, Kirby Foods, Niemerg, Save-A-lot, & Hobby Lobby.  The iconic red kettles will be accepting donations from Nov. 22 through Dec. 24, with kettle locations open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
