The Fix-It Clinic is on Monday, October 14 from 4-6 p.m. in the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Library's Workman Room

Do you have a broken home appliance or something similar that you would like to fix? Bring it to the Fix-It Clinic and someone will sit down with you to troubleshoot and guide you through the process of fixing it.

The concept of a Fix-It Clinic is simple. You bring your broken item to the library and are given help by a volunteer (Fix-It Coach) in troubleshooting the problem. Then a Fix-It Coach helps guide you through the process of fixing your broken item.

Our Fix-It Coaches are members of the community who just enjoy helping people help themselves. Fixing your broken items, whether it’s a blender, food processor, vacuum, etc., is empowering. It can make you feel more self-reliant and it’s one less thing to throw into a landfill.

Registration is required for the Fix-It Clinic but a library card is not required to register. Alvin Ealy, Assistant Director at the Effingham Public Library, says, "We are fortunate that there are people in the community who are not only handy at fixing things but who also enjoy helping people fix their broken items. The library's mission is to create unique opportunities for connection within the community. The Fix-It Clinic certainly is a unique opportunity for connection. If you have questions about the Fix-It Clinic or other library programs, call the library at 217-342-2464, Ext.1, or email info@effinghamlibrary.org"
