Local Sports Calendar

     The Effingham County Home and Community Education Association will be hosting Father Dominic Garramone, who is known as the "Bread Monk".  He'll be presenting a program, "In The Scone Zone", on Saturday, August 31, at 10:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham.

     Father Dominic is a monk of Saint Bede Abby in Peru, Illinois.  He is the head of the religion department at Saint Bede Academy, and also the chaplin.  He was the host of a cooking show on PBS and he has written 11 cookbooks.

     Father Dominic's program will include the history and culture of scones, and a live demonstration of two recipes.  There will also be a drawing for door prizes.

     Tickets for this event are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.  They are available at Brown's Drug Store in Effingham, or by calling Marilyn at 217-821-0508, or Nancy at 217-663-0294.

     Doors will open at 9:00 am.
