The City of Effingham’s Tourism Office, along with the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, is hosting the Best of Effingham Downtown Party in conjunction with WCIA’s Our Town Effingham event on Friday, August 11th in downtown Effingham from 4 – 8 p.m. We invite the community to come out to support this fun event!
WCIA has chosen Effingham as their final Our Town 2017 community and will cover Effingham stories throughout the week and culminate with the Our Town party on Friday, August 11th. This celebration will showcase the spirit of Effingham and will be an opportunity to celebrate what makes our town unique. WCIA will broadcast live from the Courthouse Square starting at 4:00 p.m. We are excited to bring the best of Effingham to our downtown and showcase it on live television.
We have a great lineup of events for the entire evening, starting with some amazing live music, including Soul Riot starting us off at 4:00 p.m., Sideways Rain at 5:00 p.m., Jeremy and the Surviving Members at 6:00 p.m. and ending the night with Matt Poss Band at 7:00 p.m. We are eager to showcase our wonderful live music scene in Effingham with our community and the WCIA audience. You will also be able to enjoy a wine and beer tent, sponsored by Koerner Distributor.
We are happy to feature some delicious BBQ from Lickin’ My Chicken & Pullin’ My Pork and Dad’s Smokin’ Butt BBQ, along with Grandma Rosie’s Sweet Treats. We’ll have something for everyone downtown, including the Our Town Car Show, antique tractors and WWII vehicles. The Effingham Police Department and Fire Department will also be downtown. Area artisans, farmers market vendors and not-for-profit booths will all be featured. We’ll have a kid’s zone including Hemi Motorsports Power Wheels Demo Derby, face painting, kids arts & crafts and more. Cayla’s Power Tumbling will perform and Dairy Queen is sponsoring a Dilly Bar Eating Competition for both adults and kids in the 6 o’ clock hour.
“We are thrilled to showcase Effingham to the WCIA audience in our beautiful downtown area. We’re hoping the community comes to show their support and enjoy a night out featuring the best of Effingham,” said Jodi Thoele, Director of Tourism for the City of Effingham Convention & Visitors Bureau.
