HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital is offering expectant parents, “Having a Baby,” a three-part educational series which provides a comprehensive journey through the process of birth and infant care. The series is designed for mothers and their support partners, and can make a positive difference in the birth experience.
The series includes the following information:
- Signs of Preterm Labor
- Stages of Labor
- Pain Relief Options for Labor
- Medical Interventions
- Role of the Support Partner
- Breathing and Relaxation Techniques
- Birthing Positions
- Cesarean Birth
- Immediate and Extended Post-Partum
- Infant Care and Safety
HSHS St. Anthony’s encourages all first-time mothers to sign up for the series at 20 weeks of pregnancy and attend this series at 30 weeks with their support partners. All classes begin at 6:30 p.m. in the hospital auditorium and pre-registration is required. Each pregnancy and birth is unique so HSHS St. Anthony’s also encourages those who have delivered before to take the series as a review.
In June, the series will be held on Tuesday, June 6; Tuesday, June 13, and Thursday, June 22.
