NAMI of Effingham County, the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will hold its monthly Support Group Meeting on February 8th at 5:00 p.m. at the Effingham Public Library. The meeting is held in the Workman Room in the basement. The program speaker will be Ms. Mahja Sulemanjee, the director of the Greenhouse Group speaking on medical marijuana via Facebook Live. Feel free to bring your own Brown Bag Supper or pick up something on the way and visit with other care givers. This is a chance to find out that you are not alone in you struggle and learn from other’s experiences. Founded in 1979 NAMI is the largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. NAMI has over 1,100 affiliates in communities across the country who are engaged in support, education, advocacy and research. NAMI of Effingham County holds Support Group Meetings every second Wednesday of the month at the Effingham Public Library. They also sponsor a free twelve week course to help care givers cope with the illness called Family-to-Family given once or twice a year.
