Do you want help you learn how to overcome your tobacco addiction so you can enjoy the benefits of better health, extra money in your pocket and healthier relationships?
HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital is offering the American Lung Association's Freedom From Smoking® (FFS) program. This program is for adults who are ready to quit smoking. Because most people know that smoking is dangerous to their health, the program focuses almost exclusively on how to quit, not why to quit.
The Freedom From Smoking® program consists of eight sessions. Participants will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Education Center at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital on the following dates, August 9, 16, 23, 30, September 1, 6, 13, and 20th.
A Lung Association-trained facilitator will lead the program in a small-group setting so participants receive personalized attention. At the same time, individuals will benefit from the support of their peers, who are going through the same stages at the same time.
You'll learn about: • Medicines that can help you stop smoking • Lifestyle changes that make quitting easier • Preparing for Quit Day • Managing stress • Avoiding weight gain • Developing a new self-image • How to stay smoke-free for good
The program provides a group setting for adults to work through the quitting process. Research has proven that the more time a smoker spends in a supportive situation, the more likely he or she is to succeed. People who use the program are six times more likely to be smoke-free one year later than those who quit on their own.
