EPC Auditions for Arsenic and Old Lace |

Three Chicks and a Stage Theatre Company is pleased to announce the production of Joseph Kesselring's Arsenic and Old Lace; to be directed by Rich Jorn. Production dates are in September 9, 10 and 11, 2016. Auditions are on Tuesday, July 12 and Wednesday, July 13, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Effingham Performance Center and will be in a cold reading format, which requires no singing or dancing or previous acting experience. Elderly woman with Victorian charm, as if stuck in another era. A true Christian woman who is always looking for a new charity, her newest one being helping lonely old gentlemen find "peace." Martha Brewster - 60s+, sister to Abby. Elderly woman with Victorian charm, as if stuck in another era. A true Christian woman who is always looking for a new charity, her newest one being helping lonely old gentlemen find "peace." Mortimer Brewster - Late 20s to 30s, nephew to Abby and Martha. Theater critic for a local newspaper. A man of many interests, who loves and wants to protect his family, but is scared of inheriting the family curse of insanity. Has a nervous nature and a brain that is constantly working out new ideas. Teddy Brewster - 30s to 40s, Mortimer's Brother. Believes himself to be President Teddy Roosevelt. Very high-energy character. Jonathan Brewster - 30s to 40s, Mortimer's Brother. Maniacal serial killer on the run with his partner, Doctor Einstein. He was always the "odd" brother, and has the ability to scare his aunts with just the tone of his voice. Should have a resemblance to Boris Karloff. Doctor Einstein - 50s+, Jonathan's partner in crime. Evil scientist and surgeon. Talks with a German accent. Elaine Harper - mid to late 20's, Mortimer's fiancé. The daughter of the Reverend who lives next door to Abby and Martha. Sweet with an alluring and spunky edge. She knows how to get what she wants, while still keeping the morals that her father raised her with intact. Familiarity with stage combat is a plus. Officer O'Hara - 30s+. Has been working at the police department for the last 12 years as "research" for the play that he is writing about his life. Lights up when anyone mentions theater. Officer Brophy - 30s+. An officer at the local police department. Frequent guest at Abby and Martha's house. Officer Klein - Late 20s to 30s+. An officer at the local police department. A frequent guest at Abby and Martha's house. The Rev. Dr. Harper - 50s+. Reverend Harper is Elaine's father, who lives across the street from Abby and Martha. Is a frequent guest of the aunts. Mr. Witherspoon - 50's+. Is the tight-lipped Superintendent of Happy Dale, a home for the insane. Mr. Gibbs - 50s+. Mr. Gibbs is a lonely gentleman looking to rent a room at Abby and Martha's house. Lieutenant Rooney- 50s+. Is an ornery higher up from the police department who is not too pleased that he has to run around cleaning up everyone else's messes. Three Chicks and a Stage is a not-for- profit theatre company in residence at the Effingham Performance Center. They encourage everyone who may be interested to audition for Arsenic and Old Lace.
