The Charleston girls golf team handed Effingham a 187-211 loss in competition at the Charleston Country Club Wednesday.
Charleston's Lauren Chappell was medalist with a 38. Also scoring were Morgan Sherwood 44, Ally O'Dell 50 and Abby Youngblood 55. Non-scorers were Lynnsy Veach 55 and Aislinn Parrish 57.
Scoring for Effingham were Morgan Wilson 45, Alex Brummer 47, Hope Collier 53 and Kaylee Tonn 66. The meet was the regular season opener for the Hearts.
At Pana
Teutopolis placed second in a boys triangular at Oak Terrace Golf Course in Pana Wednesday. Greenville won the meet with a 164 followed by the Wooden Shoes 186 and Pana 195.
Medalist was Greenville's Mike Wernle with a 34. Also scoring were Grant Suess 42, Cole Pickett 44 and Gage Brauns 44. Non-scorers were Garrett Devbarow 49 and Wil Davis 53.
Scoring for the Shoes were Christian Deters 45, Ryan Sandschafer 46, Chad Zerrusen 47 and Justin Kowalski 48. Non-scorers were Evan Schlink 52 and Kyle Brumleve 53.
Scoring for Pana were Sheldon Grimes 45, Jim LaMarche 48, Kody Bland 49 and Dylan Moon 53. Non-scorers were Blake Ade 53 and Webber Jacobs 53.
T-town is now 1-1 in matches, 3-3 overall.
In the girls meet, Pana edged T-town 206-209. The Panther's Hannah Miller took medalist honors with a 44. Also scoring were Emily Hackler 52, Hannah Michael 53 and Meradeth Epley 57. Non-scorers were Cheyenne Ashcraft 60 and Miranda Foster 61.
Scoring for T-town were Casey Willenborg 47, Haley Giles 48, Katie Thoele 55 and Ellie Ruholl 59. Non-scorer was Lea Thoele 72.
At Decatur
Effingham St. Anthony's junior varsity squad finished third in a four-team meet Wednesday.
Lutheran School Association claimed the team win with a 175 followed by Decatur St. Teresa 195, St. Anthony JV 196 and Hartsburg-Emden 199. Medalist was L.S.A.'s Hunter York with a 40. St. Teresa's Jordan Lankaitis finished second with a 41.
The Bulldogs are 3-3 on the season while St. Teresa is 3-2, L.S.A. 4-0 and Hartsburg-Emden 0-2.
