St. Anthony Wins Charleston Scramble, EHS Fifth

Effingham St. Anthony High School captured the championship of the Charleston Girls Nine-Hole Golf Scramble Thursday. The Bulldogs tallied 77 followed by Charleston 79, Salem 80, Mount Zion 83, Effingham 84, Mattoon 85, Pana 87, Teutopolis 88, Champaign Centennial 90 and Sullivan 91. Decatur Eisenhower and Paris had players competing but no team scores.

Charleston's Lauren Chappell/Morgan Sherwood were medalists with a 34. St. Anthony's Mariah Bushue/Madison Bushue took second with a 35. Effingham's Morgan Wilson/Alex Brummer placed third with a 37.

Effingham's Brummer had closest to the pin on No. 8. Also scoring for the Hearts were Hope Collier and Kaylee Tonn with a 47.

 

At Sandoval

Effingham St. Anthony's boys junior varsity team and two Bulldog girls players competed against Sandoval at the Colonial Golf Course.

St. Anthony won the junior varsity contest 187-222. Scoring for the Bulldogs were Gus Koester 41, Nate Schmidt 44, Niko Dust 49 and Jacob Schmidt 53. Non-scorers were Mitchell Sager and Ethan Greene with a 57 each and Trey Koester with a 64.

Scoring for Sandoval were Shuler 42, Johnson 50, Bates 56 and Roper 74.

Bulldog girls competing were Abby Ellis 69 and Samantha Brandenberg 66. Scoring for Sandoval were Kunick 43, Bryan 50, Sapler 52 and Day 65.
