St. Anthony, EHS Teams, T-town, North Clay, Newton Individuals Advance To Girls Golf Sectional

Effingham St. Anthony claimed first place while Effingham took third place at the Class 1A Effingham St. Anthony Girls Golf Regional Tuesday.

The Bulldogs were the sectional champions with a 358 total followed by Salem 359, Effingham 363, Teutopolis 366, Vandalia 455, Robinson 461, Fairfield 475, Richland County, Olney 486, Oblong 486, Waltonville 510, Altamont 512 and Sandoval 549.

Medalist was T-town's Brileigh Bloemer with an 81. Effingham's Ella Tuman finished second with an 82, St. Anthony's Addie Krouse third with an 83 and Gianna Frisbie fourth with an 84.

The top three teams and top 10 individuals, not members of those teams, also advance to the sectional

Advancing teams were St. Anthony, Effingham and Salem.

Members of St. Anthony and their scores were Addie Krouse 83, Gianna Frisbie 84, Brooklyn Phillips 91, Adria Moberly 100, Mia Schwing 101 and Tesa Ludwig 104.

Members of Effingham and their scores were Ella Tuman 82, Grace Harper 92, Makenna Mayhood 93, Natalie Armstrong 96, Mya Harvey 99 and Kylie Pryor 100.

Advancing for Teutopolis were Brileigh Bloemer 81, Halle Bushue 87 and Molly Habing 89. Not advancing but competing for the Wooden Shoes were Olivia Wermert 109, Brooke Thoele 110 and Josie Willenborg 115.

North Clay will be represented by Kennedy Jones who finished with a 98. She is the first female golfer in school history to advance. Not advancing for the Cardinals was MacKenzie Winterrowd 120

Newton's Haley Ochs also advanced with a 99. Not advancing was Peyton Lindley with 106.

Competing for Altamont but not advancing were Sophia Pearcy 109, Gabriella Weishaar 120, Cecilia Pearcy 123 and Emma Sphar 160.

In the Class 1A Tuscola Regional, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg competed and advanced one golfer to sectional play. Bailey Owens finished in the individuals advancing with a 115.

Sullivan won the team championship with 382 followed by Charleston 420, Arcola 466, Taylorville 473, Moweaqua Central A&M 487, Bethany Okaw Valley 494, Pana 502, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 509 and Marshall 591.

Sulilvan, Charleston and Arcola advance as teams.

Also competing for Windsor/Stew-Stras but not advancing were Kaylin Saunders 124, Jillian Porter 132 and Addie Porter 138.

All the individual and teams advancing from the St. Anthony and Tuscola Regionals advance to the Effingham Sectional, hosted by Effingham High School at the Effingham Country Club. Monday, October 7.
