St. Anthony, Effingham Finish 2-3 at Olney Invitational, Other Golf Results

St. Anthony and Effingham finished two-three Wednesday at the Olney Invitational Girls Golf Tournament.

Mt. Carmel won the tournament with a 150 team total. St. Anthony was second with a 169 total, and Effingham finished third with a 182. The rest of the team scores: Salem 182, Fairfield 203, Robinson 208, Charleston 216, and Olney Richland County 223.

Mia Schwing of St. Anthony finshed seventh with a 39, as did St. Anthony's Addie Krouse. Effingham's Ella Tuman was ninth with a 41. Kennedy Jones of North Clay played as an individual and shot a 44. Brooklyn Phillips of St. Anthony and Grace Harper of Effingham each shot a 45. Effingham's Natalie Armstrong shot a 46, as did Tesa Ludwig of St. Anthony. Mackenzie Winterrrowd of North Clay shot a 56.

Effingham won a multi-team boys tournament at Effingham Country Club Wednesday.

Effingham had a 145 team total. The Hearts' Max Seachrist and Jude Traub shared medalist honors as each shot a 34. Brody Boehm shot a 38, Leo Wyckoff a 39, and Cannon Bockhorn a 41. Rayden Schneider also played and shot a 44. Effingham improved a 2-0 on the season.

Teutopolis finished second with a 162 total. For Teutopolis: Coen Pennington 38, Isaac Weber and Brody Thoele each a 41, Colin Habing 42, ad Landyn Thoele and Nolan Schumacher each a 43. 

Sullivan finished third with a 181 total.

Teutopolis won a JV match with Effingham 169 to 203. For Teutopolis, Kade Pennington 40; Andy Lustig, Owen Kremer, Drew Hoene and Hayden Tebbe, each 43, and Noah Koester 48. For Effingham, Jack Poe 39, Kaden Field 46, Owen Nuxoll 57, Allyn Koester 61, and Cole Jones 66.

Effingham Coach Jeff Schafer said, "The kids played great; we need to take this momentum into the weekend." Effingham is at Mattoon on Friday.

North Clay played boys golf at Clay County Country Club on Wednesday. Riley Poe and Jacob Arnold each shot a 45, Brodie Adair 55, and Hunter Czyzewski 62.
