Bulldogs, Wooden Shoes, Cardinals, Indians, Eagles Compete In Golf Action

SALEM -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed both a varsity and a junior varsity high school golf victory at the Salem Country Club Tuesday.

Joey B. Trupiano claimed medalist honors for the match with a 35. Dakota Flaig, Ryan Schmidt and Maddux Clark each shot a 38 for the Bulldogs. Jack Swingler and Drake Brown finished with a 39 each.

Scoring for the homestanding Wildcats were Rhett Dettering with a 37, Landen Maxey 38, Aden Bass 40 and Ryan Detering 41. Non-counting scores were Kyler Sapp 43 and Logan Lockhart 45.

In the junior varsity match, St. Anthony was a 155-183 winner.

Scoring for the Bulldogs were Ethan Karolewicz and Manaye Mossman with a 38 each, Jameson McAllaster with a 39 and Alec Hakman with a 40. Non-counting scores were Joey C. Trupiano and Andrew Meyer with a 42 each.

Salem's Jaxon Ward was medalist with a 37. Also scoring were Scout Puricelli 47, Eli Lograsso 49 and Huck Mulvaney 50. Non-counters were Jackson Green and Wyatt Rau with a 54 each.

 

At Effingham

In a junior varsity golf match Tuesday, Teutopolis Two captured the team win with a 173 followed by Teutopolis One 176, Effingham St. Anthony 189, Effingham 195 and Teutopolis Three 199.

Scorers for the Wooden Shoes were Noah Koester 41, Owen Heuerman 42, Kade Pennington 43 and Owen Kremer 43. Matthew Habing, Andy Lustig and Ben Schafer finished with a 44 each followed by Gavin Althoff 47, Carter Mette 48, Cole Gibson 48, Blake Vahling 51, Lane Ohnesorge 51, Liam Collins 51, Will Lewis 53, Carter Kinkelaar 62 and Camden Mette 63.

St. Anthony's Cole Adams was medalist with a 37. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Keegan Overbeck 46, Gabe Huebner 47 and Daniel Ramos 59.

Scoring for Effingham were Kaden Fields 38, Owen Nxuoll 45, Allyn Koester 53 and Cole Jones 59.

 

At St. Elmo

Altamont hosted Newton, Hilslboro and Pana at the St. Elmo Golf Club Tuesday.

Hillsboro took the win with a 165 followed by Newton 170, Altamont 199 and Pana 20.

Hillsboro's Colton Weiss was medalist with a 37.

Newton was led by Michael Kennedy in second with a 38 and Altamont was led by Joel Bauer with a 50.

At St. Elmo

At Fairfield

North Clay competed in a golf contest at the Clay County Country Club in Fairfield.

Riley Poe shot a 40 followed by Jacob Arnold 44 and Hunter Czyzewski 49.

For the girls, North Clay's Kennedy Jones was medalist with a 41 and Mackenzie Winterrowd finished third with a 48.

The Cardinals are back in action today at the Clay County Country Club.
