Bulldogs Rack Up Another Golf Title, T-town Celebrates Senior Night Before Regionals Wednesday

BELLEVILLE -- Coach Phil Zaccari saw his high school golf squad rack up another golf championship, this time in the Belleville Althoff Crusaders Invitational Monday at the St. Claire County Club.

St. Anthony put together a 289 total, putting three golfers in the top 10 and winning over 16 other teams on the course. The Bulldogs were followed by Breese Mater Dei 301, O'Fallon Blue 303, Belleville West 303, Alton Marquette 313, Columbia 316, Metro East Lutheran 317, Edwardsville 318, Belleville Althoff Navy 318, O'Fallon Gold 324, Mascoutah 324, Freeburg 336, Highland 339, Father McGivney 347, Gibault 348, Granite City 352 and Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran 423

CORL's Parker Boehne was medalist with a 67. Belleville Althoff's Parker Bruening was second with a 69. St. Anthony's Dakota Flaig finished third with a 36-34 -- 70 and Joey Trupiano was fourth with a 35-36 -- 71. Mater Dei's Owen Moss was fifth with 72 and Garret Zurline sixth with 73. Marquette's Michael Wilson finished seventh with a 73 and Mason Lewis of Edwardsville was eighth with a 73. St. Anthony's Lane Ludwig claimed ninth with a 36-37 -- 73 and Ryan Suhre of  Metro East Lutheran rounded out the top 10 with a 73.

Also scoring for St. Anthony was Preston Phillips with a 35-40 -- 75. Charlie Wegman added a 40-40 -- 80 and Ryan Schmidt finished 44-40 -- 84.

The Bulldogs junior varsity team played host to Tuscola at the Effingham Country Club Monday.

St. Anthony was a 164-211 winner. Scoring for the Bulldogs were Maddux Clark 39, Alec Hakman 41, Jack Swingler 42 and Drake Brown 42. Others competing were Andrew Meyer 42, Luke Anderson 44 and Cole Adams 49.

St. Anthony finished the regular season and will be competing Wednesday in the Hamilton County Regional at Green Hills in Mount Vernon along with Altamont, North Clay (Louisville), Newton, Teutopolis, Edwards County (Albion) Carmi-White County, *Cisne, Fairfield, Flora, McLeansboro (Hamilton County), Norris City-Omaha-Enfield and Oblong Co-op.

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis High School celebrated Senior Night with a 152-187 win over Sullivan Monday.

Seniors for the Wooden Shoes are Colin Burke, Hayden Jansen, Dylan O"Brien, Koles Ohnesorge, Tyler Pruemer and Ethan Thoele.

T-town's Coen Pennington led the way with a 35 followed by Ethan Thoele 38, Isaac Weber 39 and Hayden Jansen 40.

Other Wooden Shoes competing were Brody Thoele 41, Kole Ohnesorge 46 and non-counters Landyn Thoele 37, Dylan O'Brien 42, Noah Koester 50, Tyler Prumer 51, Colin Burke 54 and Drew Hoene 55.

The Wooden Shoes end the regular season with a 13-2 record and will be competing in the Hamilton County Regional Wednesday at Green Hills in Mount Vernon along with Altamont, Effingham St. Anthony, North Clay (Louisville), Newton, Edwards County (Albion) Carmi-White County, *Cisne, Fairfield, Flora, McLeansboro (Hamilton County), Norris City-Omaha-Enfield abd Oblong Co-op.

In the girls match, Sullivan captured a 187-204 victory.

Medalist was Sullivan's Ruby Haegen with a 40. T-town's Brileigh Bloemer shared second with Sullivan's Shae Ellis with a 43 each. 

T-town's Halle Bushue and Sullivan's Devon Richardson were third with a 50 each.
