CENTRALIA -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed the championship of the Centralia Orphan Boys Golf Invitational Tournament Saturday.

The Bulldogs tallied 207 followed by Breese Central 225, Salem 228, Alton 233, Highland 238, Mount Vernon 244, Marion 250, Centralia 251, Granite City 258, Gallatin County 263, Carbondale 267, Trenton Wesclin 268 and Norris City/Omaha/Enfield 279.

The event was Best Ball (4-Ball Stroke Play Format). Preston Phillips and Joey Trupiano finished No. 1 with a 68. Lane Ludwig and Charlie Wegman were third with a 69.. Dakota Flaig and Ryan Schmidt were fifth with a 70.

Breese Central's Konnor Kueper and Ty Jones were second with a 69. Alton's Sam Otwell and Alex Siatos fourth with a 70 and Salem's Jairen Stroud and Kyler Sapp sixth with a 73.

 

At Charleston

Charleston won the championship of the Stan Adkins Trojans Fall Golf Classic at the Charleston Country Club.

The Trojans tallied 310 followed by Mount Zion 319, Teutopolis 323, Effingham 327, Mattoon 334, Effingham St .Anthony JV 337, Olney 340, Paris 349, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 361, Danville 365, Arcola 374, Sullivan 403 and Charleston JV 404.

Match medalist was Effingham's Max Seachrist with a 73. Also scoring for the Hearts were Jude Traub 80, Evan Pryor 86 and Rayden Schneider 89. Non-counters were Cannon Bockhorn 89 and Leo Wyckoff 89. Traub captured 11th place overall.

Scoring for Teutopolis were Coen Pennington 77, Isaac Weber 76, Brody Thoele 83 and Ethan Thoele 87, Non-counters were Noah Koester 102 and Kole Ohnesorge 106.

Scoring for the Effingham St. Anthony junior varsity squad were Drake Brown 82, Jack Swingler 83, Alec Hakman 84 and Ethan Karolewicz 88. Non-counters were Maddux Clark 90 and Andrew Meyer 91.

Windsor/Stewardson/Strasburg scorers were Jacob Vonderheide 88, Nathaniel Gracey 89, Clayton Carey 89 and Rylan Rincker 95. Not counting were Briar Smith 95 and A. Petzing 106.

 

At Champaign

Effingham captured third place and Teutopolis seventh at the Champaign Centennial John Macek Girls Invitational Friday.

Mattoon won the team championship with a 73 followed by Normal Community 82, Effingham 83, Belleville West 84, Charleston 85, St. Thomas More 88, Teutopolis 89, Monticello 90 and Champaign Central 90. Golfers competed for Bloomimgton, Centennial and Normal West with no team scores.

Medalist for the event was Mattoon's Blair Powers with a 73.

Scoring for Effingham were Elena Niebrugge 92, who finished 11th, Grace Harper 93, who finished 14th, Natalie Armstrong 94, who finished 17th and Ella Tuman 97, who finished 19th. Non-counters were Makenna Maywood and Mya Harvey with a 98 each.

Halle Bushue led T-town with an 85. Bushue finished fifth overall. Also scoring were Brileigh Bloemer 93, who finished 16th, Olivia Wermert 108, who finished 35th and Brooke Thoele 111, who finished 48th. Non-counters were Sophia Martin 114 and Hildi Niemerg 119.
