St. Anthony Finishes 2nd at Craig Dixon Memorial Tournament

The St. Anthony Bulldogs finished second in the Craig Dixon Invitational Golf Tournament, played Friday and Saturday in Mattoon.

The 32-team event utilized both Meadowview Golf Course and Mattoon Country Club. 

St. Anthony finished with a two-day total of 607, which was two shots behind top finisher Chatham Glenwood. Teutopolis and Effingham also competed in the event. Teutopolis finished 19th wth a 659 team total, while Effingham finished 20th with a 662 total. 

Individually, there was a three-way tie for seventh, with both Preston Phillips of St. Anthony and Max Seachrist of Effingham finishing with 148 totals. Phillips went 72 and 76 over the two days while Seachrist went 76 and 72.

St. Anthony scores included Ryan Schmidt 73-80=153; Lane Ludwig 71-83-=154; Joey Trupiano 81-77= 158; Dakota Flaig 77-81=158; Charlie Wegman 84-88=172

Effingham had totals of 333 and 320. Counters for the Hearts at Mattoon Country Club were Max Seachrist 76, Jude Traub 80, Evan Pryor 88 and Rayden Schneider 89. Jack Poe and Leo Wyckoff each shot a 92. On Saturday at Meadowview, counters were Max Seachrist 72, Jude Traub 79, Jack Poe 83, and Evan Pryor 86. Rayden Schneider and Leo Wyckoff each shot a 90. 

Hearts Coach Jeff Schafer said, "This was a good tournament with a lot of really good players. We had a really good showing with the 333 and 320. Max played great finishing seven out of over 180 golfers. Jude had a nice weekend as well with an 80 and 79. Evan Pryor has been great for us since he returned to the lineup. Jack Poe had his best 18 hole varsity score today. We gained a lot of experience this weekend. Just have to keep improving."

Teutopolis on Saturday had a 325 total and finished 15th on the day. Saturday scores for the Shoes: Coen Pennington 73, Hayden Jansen 81, Hayden Tebbe 83, Isaac Weber 88, Ethan Thoele 89, Brody Thoele 92.
