St. Anthony, T-town Compete At Battle At Rend Lake Golf

Effingham St .Anthony finished second while Teutopolis was seventh at the Battle at Rend Lake boys golf meet Thursday.

Benton won the meet with 296 followed by St. Anthony 299, Breese Mater Dei 301, Breese Central 304, Massac County 305, Litchfield 323, Teutopolis 333, Anna-Jonesboro 333, Staunton 336 and Vandalia 353.

Medalist was Breese Central's Konnor Kuiper with a 69 followed by River Stilley of Benton 70, Owen Moss of Breese Mater Dei 71, Kash Cantrell of Benton 71, Conner McCall of Vandalia 72, Luke Melvin of Benton 72, Gabe Rottman of Massac County and Garrett Zurliene of Breese Meater Dei was ninth with 73.

The Bulldogs had two in the top 10. Joey Trupiano finished eighth with a 73 and Preston Phillips was 10th with a 73.

Other scorers for St. Anthony were Dakota Flaig 76 and Lane Ludwig 77. Ryan Schmidt finished with an 80 and Charlie Wegman an 83.

Scoring for Teutopolis were Coen Pennington 76, Ethan Thoele 83, Hayden Jansen 87 and Brody Thoele 87. Also competing were Hayden Tebbe 87 and Isaac Weber 90.

 

At Charleston

Effingham St. Anthony was a winner in junior varsity and freshman/sophomore action at the Charleston Country Club Thursday.

In junior varsity action, the Bulldogs tallied 168 while Charleston had 185. Competing for St. Anthony were Alec Hakman, who was medalist, with 39, Maddux Clark 41, Drake Brown 43, Ethan Karolewicz 45, Jack Swingler 47 and Luke Anderson 52.

Leading Charleston was Zach Craig 41, Jackson Logue 45 and Rhyland Brady 49. and Evan M. 50.

In freshman/sophomore play, St. Anthony was a 213-224 winner.

Competing for the Bulldogs were medalist Andrew Meyer 45, Cole Adams 53, Teddy Dietzen 55, Keegan Overbeck 60 and Gabe Huebner 61.
