St. A Takes Girls Golf Match With Top Four Scores, JV, F/S Boys Win; Newton Boys Victorious

OLNEY -- Effingham St. Anthony High School captured the top four scores in a 184-246 victory over Olney in girls golf competition Wednesday.

Addie Krouse was medalist with a 39. Sydney Kibler and Mia Schwing added a 48 each while Gianna Frisbie tallied a 49. Brooklyn Phillips tied for fifth place with a 53.

Scoring for Olney were Savannah Ferguson 53, Addylyn Runyon 61, Emma Hefferman 66, Richardson 66 and Marley Finen 87.

 

At Olney

In junior varsity/freshman/sophomore boys matches at the Richland Country Club Golf Course, St. Anthony was a winner in both freshman/sophomore and junior varsity action.

In the junior varsity match, the Bulldogs tallied a 161-166 victory. Jack Swingler led the way with a 36. Also scoring for St. Anthony were Maddux Clark 41, Alec Hakman 42 and Ethan Karolewicz 42. Non-counters were Drake Brown 42 and Luke Anderson 51.

Scoring for Olney were Ayden Nealis, who shared medalist honors with Swingler, with a 36, Reese Glover 41, Aaron Klingler 43 and Carsyn Ameter 46. Non-counting scores were Alex Harness 49 and Tristan Mitchell 50.

In the other match, St. Anthony's freshman/sophomore team's Teddy Dietzen tallied a 44 followed by Andrew Meyer 47, Cole Adams 47 and Gabe Huebner 56.

Scoring for Olney's junior varsity were Isaac Klingler 42, Carter Blank 51, Conner McVaigh 53 and Brody Thomas 53. Non-counters were Dominic Akers 53 and Brad Mentenor 69.

Cisne had two individuals competing, Alex Atwood was medalist with a 40 and Howard Hagen with a 49.

 

At Robinson

Newton HIgh School captured a triangular boys golf match over Marshall and Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville Wednesday.

The Eagles tallied 174 followed by Marshall 201 and OPH 205.

Newton's Grant Fulton was medalist with a 41. Also scoring for the Eagles were  Michael Kennedy 42, Gunner James 43 and Evan Johnston 48. Non-counting was Ajay McCann 62.

North Clay had two players competing in the boys meet. Riley Poe had a 48 and Jacob Arnold a 56. Kennedy Jones competed in the girls meet and tallied a 49 for first place out of the eight taking part. Alaina Worland had a 60 for the Cardinals.
