(Ardmore, PA) -- The second major of the PGA season begins today in suburban Philadelphia. First-round play at the 113th U.S. Open gets underway on the East Course at Merion Golf Club. World number-one Tiger Woods says the course will provide some challenges.
Merion Golf Course last hosted the U.S. Open in 1981. Woods will be paired with world number-two Rory McIlroy and reigning Masters champ Adam Scott for the first two rounds. It's the first time Woods and McIlroy will play together in a major. Phil Mickelson will play with Steve Stricker and Keegan Bradley. Webb Simpson is the defending champion.
