EHS Girls, St. A, T-town Boys Capture Golf Wins

CHARLESTON -- The Effingham High School girls golf squad tallied a 201 to beat Charleston with a 208 and Sullivan with a 217 in action Monday at Bent Tree Golf Course.

Charleston's Delaney Meister was medalist with a 41 but the Hearts won the match as Marah Kirk scored a 46 followed by Elena Niebrugge 50, Ella Niebrugge 52 and Ella Tuman 53. Others competing were Makenna Mayhood 53, Marissa Allie 56, Anna Hirtzel 57 and Natalie  Armstrong 58.

Other's scoring for Charleston were Madeline Sanders 50, Bailey Wolfe 55 and Maci Babbs 62. Non-counters were Mia Tribble 71 and Morgan Smallhorn 78.

Scoring for Sullivan were Gabby Pemberthy 52, Ruby Haegen 53, Shae Ellis 54 and Hannah Righter 58. Non-counters were Hannah Righter 58 and Taylor Mercer 64.

Pana had three players competing, Paige Morrell 60, Claire Osborn 62 and Gabby Heinrich 74.

 

At Robinson

Effingham St. Anthony picked up a triangular golf victory over Robinson and Mount Carmel Monday at Quail Creek Country Club.

The Bulldogs tallied a 158 as Michael Martelli earned medalist honors with a 38 followed by Jonathan Willenborg, Lane Ludwig and Joey Trupiano with a 40 each. Preston Phillips and Dakota Flaig shot a 41 each.

Scoring for Robinson were Nathan Rich 40, Daniel Davis 48, Joe Quick 51 and Mason Arnone 59. Non-counters were Cody Waggoner 59 and Walker Netherly 60.

Mount Carmel's Owen Dougherty and Kollin Kelsey shot a 39 each. Also scoring were Konner Kelsey and Ethan Sellers with a 47 each. Others competing were Landon Johnson 52 and Tripp Bingham 55.

In junior varsity play, St. Anthony's Ryan Schmidt shot a 37 while Coen Pennington and Charlie Wegman had a 41 each and Jack Swingler a 42.

Robinson's Layton Crumrin shot a 54 and Everett Foreman a 65. Mount Carmel's Brayden Rayborn had a 54.

 

At Casey

Teutopolis scored a 183 to hand a loss to Altamont, Newton and Casey-Westfield in a four-team boys meet Monday.

The Wooden Shoes were followed by Altamont with a 192, Newton 194 and Casey-Wesfield 195.

Altamont's Avery Jahraus was medalist with a 36.

Scoring for the winning Wooden Shoes were Ethan Thoele 43, Adam Lustig 45, Kole Ohnesorge 46 and Brody Thoele 49. Colin Habing also had a 49 and Davin Worman a 52.

Along with medalist Jahraus, other Altamont scorers were Zeke Rippetoe and Gavin Flach with a 49 each and Tyler Renfroe with a 58. Non-counters were Kolton Hardiek 64, Justin Kollman 65 and McCammon 48.

Newton's foursome was Gunner James 41, Grant Fulton 48, Michael Kennedy 52 and Ethan Johnson 53.

Scoring for Casey-Westfield were Morrison 45, Hall 47, Haenig 51 and Yates 52. Non-counters were Jean 54, Maudling 56, Morgan 60 and Maudling 69.

 

At Salem

Salem captured a 198-225 win over Teutopolis in girls golf action Monday. 

Scoring for T-town were Abigail Wortman 52, Alaina Helmink 57, Brileigh Bloemer 57 and Halle Bushue 59. Non-counting scores were Mollie Koester 60 and Josie Deters 66.

T-town is 5-8 on the season.

 

At Effingham

In a junior varsity match at Foreway Golf Course, St. Anthony tallied a 160 and Teutopolis a 196.

Aidan Tegeler and Drake Brown shot a 38 each for medalist honors. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Alec Hakman 41 and Maddux Clark 43. Others competing were Ethan Karolewicz 45, Keenan Griffith 52, Matt Herzing 53 and Luke Anderson 60.

Scoring for the Wooden Shoes were Drew Hoene 47, Dylan O'Brian 48, Landon Thoele 49 and Noah Koester 52. Non-counters were Owen Heuerman 53 and Mick Niebugge 58.
