EHS Second At Olney Girls Golf Invitational; T-town Edges EHS Boys

OLNEY -- Effingham High School captured second place in the Olney Girls Golf Invitational Wednesday.

Mount Carmel won the event with a 153 followed by Effingham 185, Salem 187, Charleston 203, Paris 206, Richland County 214 and Robinson 242. Effingham St. Anthony competed but did not have enough members for a team score.

Medalist for the event was Mount Carmel's Emily Gottman with a 37. The Golden Aces took the top three spots as Zeme Moore and Madelyn Young finished with a 38 each. Mount Carmel put all six of its players in the top seven. Only Salem's Alyssa Paul broke up the Golden Aces, finishing fourth with a 39.

Effingham's Marah Kirk took ninth place with a 43. Elena Niebrugge was 12th with a 46 while Ella NIebrugge was 14th with a 47. Ella Tuman captured 18th with a 49 and Anna Hirtzel was 24th with a 52. Marissa Allie finished 26th with a 55.

St. Anthony players were Sydney Kibler 15th with a 48 and Mia Schwing 25th with a 55.

 

At Effingham

Teutopolis won a close match against Effingham in boys golf competition Wednesday, 171-178.

Co-medalists were T-town's Ethan Thoele and Effingham's Colby Haynes with a 40 each.

Also scoring for the Wooden Shoes were Brody Thoele 41, Gabe Schlink 44 and Adam Lustig 46. Others competing were Hayden Jansen 46 and Kole Ohnesorge 50.

The Wooden Shoes are 10-4 on the season and back in action Friday and Saturday at the Mattoon Invitational.

Scoring for the Hearts along with Haynes were Brody Boehm 43, David Splechter 47 and Cannon Bockhorn 48. Non-scorers were Rayden Schneider 49 and Kaden Field 54.

In junior varsity action, Effingham was a 196-200 winner.

Medalist was Effingham's Evan Pryor with a 42. Also scoring for the Hearts were Blayne Pals 47, Ross Schaefer 53 and KC Kuhlman 54. Others competing were Preston Siner 63 and Gunner Heil 70.

Scoring for the Wooden Shoes were Dylan O'Brien 48, Davin Worman 49, Cole Gibson 51 and Noah Koester 52. Non-counters were Drew Hoene 54 and Landon Thoele 59.
