St. Anthony Boys Win, T-town Boys, Girls Claim Golf Victories

ROBINSON -- Effingham St. Anthony picked up a four-team boys golf meet victory at Quail Creek Country Club Thursday.

The Bulldogs tallied a 156 followed by Robinson 179, Newton 196 and Oblong 211.

St. Anthony took the top three spots as Ryan Schmidt tallied a 37 for medalist honors followed by teammates Coen Pennington and Jack Swingler with a 38 each. Also scoring was Charlie Wegman with a 43. Non-counters were Aiden Tegeler 45 and Ethan Karolewicz 49. Alec Hakman had a 44.

Scoring for Newton were Gunner James 46, Grant Fulton 47 and Michael Kennedy 51.

Competing for Robinson were Nathan Rich 39, Walker Nethery 42, Joe Quick 48, Daniel Davis 50, Mason Arnore 50 and Cody Waggoner 57.

Competing for Oblong were Cody York 40, Carson Musgrave 54, Riley Blank 56, Rowan Bailey 61 and Arron Johnson 63.

 

At Teutopolis

The Teutopolis girls claimed a three-team meet with a 196, winning on the fifth score, followed by Charleston 196 and Mount Zion 205.

Scoring for the Wooden Shoes were Abby Wortman 45, Alaina Helmink 49, Halle Bushue 49 and Mollie Koester 54. The fifth score was Brileigh Bushue 53. Non-counters were Hildi Niemerg 55,  Josie Deters 61, Margaret Wente 62 and Madi Deters 75.

In the boys meet at Casey, T-town tallied a 175 followed by Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 197, Casey-Westfield 199 and Tri-County 235.

Medalist was T-town's Ethan Thoele with a 39. Also scoring were Hayden Jansen 44, Adam Lustig 45 and Brody Thoele 47.

Non-counters were Kole Ohnesorge 50, Landyn Thoele 50, Gabe Schlink 54, Drew Hoene 54 and Noah Koester 57.

The Wooden Shoes are now 5-2 on the season and back in action Saturday at the Litchfield Invitational.
