Bulldogs Capture John Macek Invitational

St. Anthony captured top honors in a 15-team boys golf event Monday. 

The John Macek Invitational was held on the U of I Orange Course.

St. Anthony totaled a 305 score, nine shots ahead of Mattoon and 14 shots ahead of third place Champaign. 

Lane Ludwig of the Bulldogs was medalist for the event, shooting a 71. Michael Martelli and Preston Phillips each fired a 77 for the Bulldogs to finish among the Top 10. The other counter for St. Anthony was Dakota Flaig with an 80. Also for St. Anthony: Charlie Wegman 81 and Jonathan Willenborg 83. 

Effingham High School finished eighth with a 375 total. Counters were Colby Haynes 89, Brody Boehm 91, David Splechter 95, and Rayden Schneider 100. Also for EHS: Cannon Bockhorn 100 and Kaden Field 104. 

Here's the order of finish: St. Anthony 305, Mattoon 314, Champaign 319, Charleston 327, Monticello 331, Judah Christian 360, St. Thomas More 361, Effingham 375, Sullivan 387, Bismarck-Henning 388, Lincoln 390, Danville 406, Centennial 413, Urbana 425, and Taylorville 448.

Teutopolis traveled to Sandoval Monday and won a triangular. The final was Teutopolis 154, Altamont 166, and Sandoval 186. 

For Teutopolis, Adam Lustig and Hayden Jansen each shot 37s, Ethan Thoele and Gabe Schlink each a 40, Kole Ohnesorge 44, Landyn Thoele 46, Kayden Zerrusen 47, and Mick Niebrugge 53. 

Teutopolis is 2-0 on the season.

Altamont's Avery Jahraus was medalist for the event with a two-under 33. Also for Altamont: Rippetoe 39, McCammon 43, Ruffner 51 and Goeckner 53.
