EIU Women's Golf Team In Ninth Place

DICKSON, Tenn. -- Eastern Illinois women's golf sits in ninth place following the opening round of the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golf Tournament played at Greystone Golf Club.
Senior Lauren Williams was the top Panthers finisher shooting an 81 to stand in 25th place. Emily Fitzgerald shot an 83 followed by Emily Calhoon, an Effingham St. Anthony graduate, at 85, Elyse Banovic at 87 and Tiffay Wolf at 88. EIU shot a team score of 336.
The Panthers will compete today in second round action.
Jacksonville State was the team leader after day one. Four players tied for the day one lead shooting a two-over 74. Janet Steen (Belmont), Becky Sharpe (Eastern Kentucky), Katie Rice (Morehead State) and Ornella Arrizon (Jacksonville State) head into day two atop the leaderboard.
