EHS Wins Boys Quadrangular Tuesday; City Schools Tangle Wednesday

The EHS boys golf team won a quadrangular Tuesday, including a key one-stroke victory over Apollo Conference foe Mt. Zion.

The final scores: Effingham 182, Mt. Zion 183, Taylorville 198, Shelbyville 228.

Ethan Ritz led the way for Effingham with a 41. Jett Volpi and Colby Haynes each shot a 45, Joseph Matteson 51, Nick Burgess 52, and David Splechter 53.

Altamont's boys finished second Tuesday in a four-team event in Oblong.

The results: Oblong 155, Altamont 171, Tri-County 220, North Clay 243

Altamont's Avery Jahraus was the boys medalist with a 36, by playoff over Oblong golfer Braden Thompson. Also for Altamont: Tyler Stonecipher 42, Kevin Hall 43, A.J. Kopplin 50, Alec Jahaus 50, Zeke Rippetoe 57

For North Clay: Riley Poe 49, Enoch McCrary 61, Landen Frye 66, Andy Sapp 67, Hayden Pittman 69

Altamont's Madison Splechter played as an individual in the girl's event, shooting a 50.

St. Anthony defeated Charleston in JV action Tuesday 166-171.
